A VISIT TO KELLIE'S CASTLE, BATU GAJAH

A great day to get ourself out from home, go under the sun, and blend with some greens. This time we plan to visit the one's ipoh tourist attraction, a well-known castle in state. I was quite eager to visit Kellie's Castle and shoot some nice photos of it. Simple because of architecture. haha.

As expected, Kellie's Castle is stunning with its authentic Madras style of architecture. The building was designed by William Kellie Smith, a Scottish that was fascinated in Hindu religion and Indian culture. The bricks and tiles of the castle were imported from India.

Architectural values
It was an ambitious project by Kellie. During the 1900s, it was first in Malaya to have an elevator all the way up to the top floors. Two tunnels are constructed for Kellie and his family to access to the nearest Hindu temple which was also built by Kellie. Indoor tennis courtyard (impressive) is plan on the second floor, and an open rooftop courtyard for parties and gathering.

ventilation window for rooms underneath, with an incomplete tennis court as roof.

I was quite impressed by this expressive structure. Although the layout was a little bit confusing, but all the rooms are spacious and well ventilated. I do feel the spirit of power and love from it.

And yes, in such charming and lovely place it was common to find a bunch of model shooting gangs and couple hanging around Kellie's mansion. Not to mention these lovely fellas. :)

Unfortunately, Kellie's Castle was not completed due to a flu tragedy that was triggered after World War I,  which had killed numbers of Indian labors that were helped in the construction of Kellie's dream.

That's William Kellie Smith. The charming man behind the castle's tales. It was said that the castle was a proposal to her wife Agnes, asking her to come over and live in Malaya. Some were also said that the castle was built to celebrate his son, Anthony's birth.

It was unfortunate to have those tunnel closed for security purposes. If not it would be an exciting exploration and guts training activity. The building was in fact cooling even with the strong afternoon sun. Oh, we discovered a mysterious footprint on the concrete. That was scary because of the size O.O . Another interesting part of the landscape was the 'bear tree'.

You should go and experience yourself.

KOREA TRIP 2011 pt2

The weather is really cold now. Well, our 3rday started off with National Museum of Korea. The building was pretty huge. I did compared our Malaysia Muzium with theirs, hmm. what can i say. It's 2 or 3 times bigger than ours of course, the exhibitions in Korea Museum are pretty well managed. standards are quite big different. One of the interesting stuff that catches my attention in Korea Museum is about the Korea Buddha, where a slightly different compare with the usually buddha we saw. The feature is different, but of course the background and the story behind is still the same.

After the museum, we headed to Dongdaemun for more buildings. We went to Zaha Hadid's cultural park to see the construction process, as well as another museum located nearby. Next stop is a stunning place: the iconic building of korea, N seoul tower! The tower is nice, and the happenings there is really charming, lively and full of young energetic spirits.................At night, shopping spreee! :D

Hari keempat, I have adopted the weather and the place. Kinda. it's still cooling, relaxing and of course stressless. haha. same breakfast again, and the day started off with a visit to DooJin Hwang architect firm/residence. A contemporary designer as well as a fighter of heritage essence. He gave us a presentation of his work, n yea learnt a lot from him about his concept, his approaches to the new era. His favor quote of mine: 'YOU CAN START YOUR OWN TRADITION, AS LONG AS TRADITION IS NOT YOUR GOAL'. I was thinking whether to have intern with him next year. I think it would be cool to learn from him. The day continued with visits to chongmyo shrines, myongdung streets, Kring building and dongdaemun at night to buy sounvenirs~

Last day of visiting around Seoul. this time we went to Korea's folk village, and yea it's my favourite place of the trip. Unlike those boring, obsolete, old props you can see in Malaysia, Their traditional village is very happening. You can see, you can play, and you can interact. Nice scenery surrounding the area. Let the pics speak themselve to you. After all its really really nice place. Then after lunch, we visited the fortress of a Korea.

Very very last day of the trip, still the same breakfast, but the mood is start tunning back to Malaysia channel again. Before leaving this wonderful place, we had a visit to Cheongnyangni River. It's a green strategy of the city to turn a river into a nice place for functions and all. The river is super crystal clear. You can even see fishes around. Malaysia? Hell No. haha. After that, we went to a store that sells all the products that you might wanna grab for parents and friends. N lastly, back to Incheon Airport and prepare to leave the charming city behind :(

Well, this trip is totally inspiring, at last i could see how a developed country works. How the community of a civilised era behave. I would say its uncomparable to Malaysia. Im kinda miss the food and the people there. And grateful to have parent's support on the trip. Well then, anyeong Korea! Hope to see you back some time later!

KOREA TRIP 2011 pt1

So last wednesday [28th of Sep ], I had my 6days travel with a bunch of coursemates to Seoul. Of course, the trip is along with 2 lecturers around since it is a school field trip. This might sound abit 'formal' to you where the lecturers are like GUIDES and look out for us, but thankfully it doesnt happen that way. I love how the trip is being led, giving freedom to us and the tour guide is doing a good job managing the time, ppl and places we went.
Seoul, as you know a developed city with full of high-rises and koreans that have high fashion sense. haha. The word 'Korea' could make you think of Kimchi, Plastic Surgeries, K-Pop, or Korean Drama. Well, these were my preception too.

1st day of trip was started of with Nami's Island tour, accompanied with an unpleasent raining day. It was abit disappointing. Pants and shoes are wet while enjoying the nice scenery of the place. For ur information, the place is famous with a long linear path with two rows of trees aside. The famous 'Winter Sonata' was shooted here few years back. The place has alot of installments as well. I'll call it a romantic one.The next stop is War Museum of Korea. The Museum had a densed feeling to me. Everything is kinda dull, but then the things that exhibit inside were really amazing. Esp the Original jets and ships were displayed at the exterior space. Only 2 places in the itenery of the day. We went out have a pleasent walk around our hotel and had our dinner. We went Lotte for shopping, eating street food like rice cake.. hmm. the feeling was damn nice!

the second day was like a 'looking foward' day, i cant wait to explore more places in Seoul. Well the weather gets abit colder everday. Cecilia(tour guide) warned us to wear at least 2 layers. lol. 1st place we went was Bukchon village, another hotspot of movies and drama. A famous linear sloppy street with traditional houses of Korea, or we called it 'hanoks' arranged in order, and most of them have been renovated with different new styles. Alot of architecture elements that we couldnt see anywhere in Malaysia can be found here. After that, we went for a place called 'Sarangi' (if not mistaken) a cotemporary museum that demonstrates Korea cultures, Korea house of parliment, etc. Lots of interactions between the visitors and the 'exhibitions'. lol. Next destination was GyeongBokGung palace which totally stunning. You can see the massive scale of a palace, the King's and Queen's palace etc. Unlike the usual palace that covered with golds, emerald or anything that is expressive,super-rich-material, the Korean ancient King's palace was rather humble. They don't show off powers of wealth to classify themselve a higher class. Which is really something people these days should learn. The day continued with a visit to a high point and have a seek of Korea cityview! That was totally awesome. though i forgot the name of the place but it's really nice to sit on the rock, taking fresh air into the lungs and a warm sun shines on you. yeeeeha!

stay tunned for part2!

UNIQUELY SG CHRISTMAS pt1

Ho!Ho!Ho! How's your holiday been going? Holy night, always a big smile on everyone's face!
:D :D :D:D :D
Spending time with your besties is the best damn thing to do during christmas and countdown. Well i used to have a so-called wonderful 'EHY! gang' to be with everytime when it reaches the part of christmas joy. We used to go trip and have fun, that's the time when all of us are free to gather and blow water as puas as we could! So here we go, Singapore!!

22nd Dec

We were gathered at the ipoh bus company about 9.30pm. 1-1-1-1-1... FeiFai is the last one to arrive!(was buying us food) The bus was late and we managed to ride on the bus about 10.10pm. GGS were not with us but the next day.. FFG wo! After the 6hours freezing bus ride we reached custom about 5.30am and reaches Singapore about 6am. I was like frozen inside the bus since im under med yet everything went on smoothly :)

23rd DecLet's start from the Singapore kastam. As usual we used to prank a lot anytime anywhere. DMS has been our target since he is going on trouble if he is found with DaiMa!
So we were led by Loon all the way to his campus. We took a NTU tour, pretty well covered 50% of the campus. Expectedly, impressive! The campus brought me an image of UM but a better version of course.
Had lunch, took shower, and ready to have a cycling blast!
We took MRT as well to east-coast park, hearsay the place was a sea and has now became a step-on land. We ate sienzz MCD dinner there, and someone bought $8 burger. HAHA
As so we had lotsa fun cycling arround Singapore. We went Gelang, Marina Bay, etc.
A satisfied day but tiring. :D

24th Dec
Hmm just gonna simplify all the stuff we did. Seems the post is so long! HAHA
Finally GGS and GGB were here with us.
We went : Orchad Road, Bugis Steet, then countdown at Vivo city. Toi YeeVoon joined us at Bugis straight until finished countdown. Found something from her in a shock way though.
What we did during countdown? Guess it we played Mafia. LOL
Well, that's a day that simply waving my heart with those branded stuff at Orchad road. Not to be missed are those decorations for Christmas.. simply gorgeous. Unlike Malaysia, we cant see that stuff in the country, how sad.
A playful night. Too bad MunHan was staying all the time at NTU. his leg was too painful to continue the journey today.

1 DAY JOURNEY TO THE SOUTH

WOW. Proven that people will only upload their blogs whenever they feel moody, sad, negative stuff. It's been sometime from the previous uploads. Holidays stills happy. buahaha!
Currently staying in dad's office. Whenever there's task to accopomlish, im needed to be in office even in midnite. But somehow, im enjoy this job, it's relaxing n flexible. Well, i don't considered myself as employed but helper for dad. I don't think i deserve the wages.
Besides these stuff, im just like any other folks, movies yumcha lepak etc. Enjoying the holidays with friends budd n bros. Yet still, im lonely single man.

Well, went to Subang Puchong KL Cheras last Saturday with KengLeong. We took Plusliner to KTM KL n take the train to Subang. It's the 1st time he take it in KL. After our breakfast in Sunway, he accompany me for salon. Feel bad that he waited me for a long time. haha
Then, meet Xiiaoru for lunch n Lakeside campus session. We had our lunch at OLDTOWN, then we head to the campus. I was asking about architecture n she was asking Law. Well, it was attractive to study there, with the damn chun campus. One of the lady lecturer of the course was consulting me. She explained it very well to me. N yes, i think im confirm to take the course, just hesitating where to go.
We left the place about 5pm.
Then, she fetch us to Time Square, dropped us there n left to find her fren. Walk arround with Leong n bought some DVDs. He left me arround 7something there and im waiting Sandra to pick me up alone in Time Square. I was so bored. haha.. so bought a magazine n enjoy some donuts at Krispy Kreme!

me, KK Time Square n hotels all in one snap. *i was too bored in the cafe*

Original Glazed and NewYork Cheese with an iced Americano. dine in in KK is much better than taking away.

After that, she was 1st saying to take me dinner at a very nice Yin Yeong stall, but too bad there was pasar malam there as so, we ended up at KFC.. haha.. fattening again. We had dinner plate.
After tat, she fetch me to my grandma house at Pandan Perdana. Thanked Sandra for her help. Finally, 1 day gone just like tat. Grandma looks lonely in her house since grandpa passed away. I stayed there for 1 nite n went back ipoh the next day with her by Mr.Foo. With a deep feeling in heart. Dunno why, I think im a jerk. Moody for reasons like tat.
